The process of opening up a shop and really pin pointing my visions in my work has been an amazing work in process. Growing up with a mother and grandmother who are seamstresses has created a foundation. I have always had sewing in my life but it wasn't up untill reacently that it truely sparked my interest. My first two peices I made were a bow made from ribbon wrapped around our wedding gifts and a dress for my daughters first easter made from English lace curtains my mom made. My whole family has been supportive in the process but is was my mother-in-law that really drove me to pursue this passion. From then on I realized it was something more than just another hobby I was interested in. My whole family has been supportive in the process but is was my mother-in-law that really drove me to pursue this passion. She took the time to help me get started and made sure I had resources available to succeed.

My daughter has been my number one source of inspiration. She causes me to realize that it isn't just about a peice of clothing, it's about creating a peice of art out of fabric that makes the buyer and the child wearing it to smile. It's a peice that can be handed down to generations to come. Music and culture have an influence in my work as well. I need music to fuel my fire. Culture comes into play in my work in many ways. I recently created a dress inspired by the colors, fabrics and livelyness of bollywood. It has a hand beaded sun on the side so I decided to call it 'You are my sunshine'.

Being artistic is not the only quality needed to succeed and my husband has made me realize this. As do most artist do I have gone thru ebs and flows and when I hit a rut he pushes me to understand that you have to keep going. You can't just stop. And if you can't continue you need to take the annitioative to ask for help.
