About

Welcome to The Sticky Situation, a shop of handmade hair sticks and the occasional dabbling in other handmade goods.

If you see something you like but would prefer it made in a different wood or length we'd be happy to give it a try, but please understand that due to each piece of wood being unique and our sticks are turned free-hand no two sticks will be exactly alike. We are also willing to consider custom designs, but we will not sell copies of other artists' work.

Currently available woods include:
Apple, Bubinga, curly Koa, Kingwood, Red Elm, Tulipwood, Wenge, Yew, and Zebrawood
If you are interested in another wood we will check our stash to see if we happen to have a piece.

Available inlay colors:
Nearly any color…

So who are we really?
We're your typical if slightly quirky family located in western Montana. There's Amy, who creates most of our pieces, maintains the Etsy shop, and who will model our hair accessories...and her crew of "assistants": Bob the life-long woodworker and wood shop troubleshooter/mentor; Jeanne, who helps select woods and brainstorm ideas; Jordan, who dutifully sharpens tools and cuts boards into turning blanks; Jason, who makes many of our turning tools; and, last but not least, Decima "The Decimater", who supervises as only a cat can and quickly eliminates any bugs that find their way into the wood shop.

Amy's personal Etsy account is "honeyjubilee".
