About

Creating new things is my passion. Nature, in all its forms. inspires me. As do transitions, seasons, colors - the sun and moon, and the beat of time. Personality, humor, optimism, happiness - also whimsy, juxtaposition, paradox, and point-of-view. I LOVE love, celebration, possibilities, exploration and making new memories. All are reoccurring ideas behind my keepsake flower style and bridal designs. What's more, books, memoir, and rich storytelling are my loves. Prior to my opening "The SunnyBee," I was a school psychologist with two master's degrees. Learning is a lifelong passion. Vintage book flowers and script themes are my nod to these in my floral studio.

I started making wedding flowers that endure, in large part because I am a happily remarried widow. When I tied the knot for the second time, it was important for me to create fresh memories and peaceful emotional associations as I turned the page and started anew. I wanted pretty, natural flowers that I could keep. Flowers that represented happiness and the lasting promise of love and a long bright abundant future. Sappy, yes, but I'll take sappy any day. (Plus, sappy rhymes with happy, and happy is my all time FAVORITE.) When I couldn't find flowers like that elsewhere, I made them myself. From there, my shop featuring sola wood flower wedding bouquets was born.

Sharing my floral aesthetic with brides-to-be and giving them beautiful, positive symbols of happiness as they begin their new married life makes my heart sing. My loves and inspirations infuse my keepsake bouquets to enhance the natural sparkle, joy, and verve already within the brides who hold them. Making my mark on the world of design gives me joy. Making people happy is a gift. Life is so good. Life is happy!

That's my story, abridged. Nice to meet you!
