About

Hi there!

I am Dawn, the face behind Ginger Cat Pattern Co. I am inspired by my love of all things vintage and am particularly drawn to vintage kitchenware, sewing items and linens. I also love cats. And the color pink. In fact, Ginger Cat Pattern Co. is name after my beloved ginger cat, Teke.

I have been a rug hooker for over 15 years and during this time I have designed and sold patterns and finished rugs, written articles for The Wool St. Journal, taught several classes on hooking and using natural dyes. Oh yeah, natural dyes are also a love of mine. :)

I began rug hooking when I saw a hooked rug in an antique store and fell in love with it. It was room size and gorgeous and there was no way I could afford it. I returned home, bought a kit, hook and frame and have never looked back…

About

I returned home, bought a kit, hook and frame and have never looked back.

I was first inspired to start hooking mixed-media rugs by my crafting ADD and piles of half-finished embroidery, applique and crochet projects. You see, my problem is that I love all types of needlework. I would be in the middle of hooking a rug and see a darling embroidery design and I would just have to start it. Then I would come across a wool applique project that I just had to start and of course I was crocheting something too. One day I thought if I could only combine all these things into one rug I would never get bored or distracted.

So I drew up a pattern, gave it a try and loved it!

I hope you do too!
