About

Sewing, crafting, furniture and jewelry making are just some of my favorite things to do.

Some of the found resources I've used include: driftwood, off-cuts from local woodworking shops, sea glass, copper pipes from dismantled water coolers, fabric remnants, discarded clothing, even punctured inner tubes from bicycles and a ship's inflatable life-raft. For the same reason, I love vintage - objects may not be new but they still possess value. I also love assembling pretty earrings from relatively inexpensive materials for a very affordable price. I suppose that's all part of having been raised by parents who grew up during the hard times of the 1930s.

At "The Wild Roses," I choose to do what my grandmothers did by necessity. As women with families in the '30s, they had to reuse and stretch every resource. They substituted "ersatz" when a desired ingredient or resource was unavailable or too expensive. I want to feel like I'm walking down the same dusty dirt road that leads to the family farm where wild rosebushes somehow flourished in the harsh prairie environment.

I enjoy having the time to pursue my Rs (reuse, recycle, repurpose, rejuvenate, rejoice ...)
