About

The Wooden Knot is owned and operated out of North Carolina by Jay Cash. Jay has over 25 years of woodworking experience. Early in his career he began working in the field of carpentry, and later developed the passion for woodworking. Since the start of his career, he has studied with Master Craftsmen to learn furniture design and woodworking techniques.

Today, Jay is skilled in all aspects of furniture design and construction and uses his skills learned through the years to handcraft custom furniture and specialty items. Jay devotes many hours to designing and handcrafting each custom piece, ensuring each is truly unique.

In addition to custom furniture, he also creates specialty items such as handcrafted pens using exotic and domestic woods which feature one-of-a-kind designs. Jay regularly turns functional bowls and other kitchen items including honey dippers and wine bottle stoppers. Other kitchen items like distinctive cutting boards, wooden spoons and spatulas are also created by Jay.

One of the highlights of Jay's skill set is his ability to create authentic Windsor chairs. These chairs are handcrafted in the same way they were built over 200 years ago. He uses hand tools and steam to carve and bend the wood. No two chairs are ever alike.
