About

My name is Cait. I love recycling and re-purposing. I love to take something and think of a whole new purpose for using it. That is how I came up with the idea to use ties in a fun different way. I have always loved old ties. As a kid I used one of my dad's old ties as a leash to take my favorite stuffed tiger for a walk.

I love the rich colours and textures of vintage ties. I am attracted to the fun and fanciful designs motifs of by gone eras. With the changes in our culture that advocates casual Fridays to be everyday. Ties are just not being warn like they used to. Each tie has a name. It is named after the man that I imagined could have worn that tie. I like to image the life that they lead and how or why they wore that particular tie. Each tie come with the story of who might have worn it in the past.

I identify as an artist with a disability. I have chosen to feature the work I do with ties for this particular Etsy site. I do work in other mediums and will try to update this site to provide links to my other work. I would love to take the ties that you rescue and make them into something you love to use everyday. You can be sure that no one else will ever be wearing the same head band or rosette as you. It is fun to see people in disbelief that what you are wearing was once a men's tie.
