About

I grew up thinking I wanted to be a writer. I was good at it; I could string words into sentences without half trying, and I knew where to festoon those sentences with dashes and semicolons for maximum effect.

But something just wasn't right. Eventually I realized that I didn't like writing. I liked *having written* -- but getting there was a problem.

The day I realized I was an artist, not a writer, that problem was solved. Now I'm all about process: Getting there is much more than half the fun. What a relief to string beads instead of words! Pasted pictures are so much more satisfying than past perfect intentions. And I'd rather festoon fabric and found objects with gold paint and turquoise thread than stud stilted sentences with snooty semicolons. Wouldn't you?
