First, let me introduce myself, my name is Jill Nemec and I am the owner of Trimmings. I live in the beautiful Historic District of Savannah, Georgia. Living here I am constantly influenced and inspired by beautiful things. You will find a broad array of items in my shop because I like dabbling in a little bit of everything from screen printing, to designing stationery, sewing, bookbinding, painting, drawing and pattern design. I love to “trim” or create clever pairings of objects and bring those objects to life in unique collage like images or patterns with just enough decoration and whimsy. The final piece of the puzzle is to make something tangible out of those designs for you.

Screen-printing is my favorite technique for production because I especially enjoy the gratifying process. Most of my designs are based on things I encounter on a daily basis. I’ve always been drawn to unique designs with unique objects stylized in interesting combinations. They are the microscopic details I see or phrases I hear, from vintage images and signs in Savannah, details in ironwork, or even the details of a piece of lace on an individuals clothing whom is passing by. I love translating the things I see and hear into to lovely designs, especially if screen-printing is involved in the process. You never quite know what the end result will be until you put the screen to paper as it adds the final touch to a finished piece.

I have a BS in Interior Design from Virginia Tech. During my studies I explored various other fields in the visual arts and while I had some interest in those other areas, they were not as stimulating as my graphic design courses. So that’s how I ended up here after pursuing and receiving a MFA in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. The diversity of both degrees compliments each other quite perfectly. I still continue to educate myself in a broad array of different design fields and love trying as many different techniques as I can. It’s great to view the world through more than one discipline's set of glasses.

Thank you so much for stopping by Trimmings Shop, your support is helping me do what I love, and I am forever grateful for that!
