About

I established True Blue as an interior design business in 1992 and it has since evolved into a cottage industry encompassing my diverse creative endeavors. My background is in photography and design, although over recent years I’ve immersed myself in the arts of hand weaving, knitting, felting and fine sewing. I often attend workshops which inspire me to explore new techniques that I can incorporate into my designs.

I am the founding member and host of a local artists’ group whose members’ shared passion is to develop their skill, whether it’s in weaving, knitting, sewing or quilting. I travel frequently and many of my knitted products have been inspired by local colors and textures in regions as diverse as the Tropics and Northern Europe.

I have forever been a fiber enthusiast in all shapes and forms –interior design, clothing, accessories – and I love creating great color and texture combinations.

My woven goods consist primarily of scarves and wraps woven from fine hand-dyed silk yarn. The traditional patterns I love, combined with the luminous quality of the silk give the cloth a luxurious, heirloom quality. My current range of knitted products includes elegant scarves and fingerless mitts in rich sky or earth tone combinations, and felted totes (my own is unlined, however, most are lined in beautiful cotton prints that harmonize or contrast with the colors of the yarn). I hand make all products – nothing is outsourced.

The good news (and bad!) is that I was born a Virgo…I am a true perfectionist which can get in the way of life sometimes, believe me. Nothing is quite finished until I’m personally thrilled with the outcome and would be proud to wear it myself. The simple words of the renown weaver C. Valentine Kirby sum up my philosophy: “I must make my creation good and honest and true, so that it may be a credit to me … revealing to others something of the pleasure which I found in its making. Then my creation will be art … for I shall have labored honestly and lovingly in the realization of an ideal.”
