About

I have enjoyed rockhounding since I was eight years old. My children tell me that places me well into the cretaceous period. Yea, they think that's pretty funny.

Two friends of mine and I found a small ammolite deposit in central Utah and held a claim for several years. Over time, we learned to process the stones from other rockhounds and experts as well as developing our own improvements.

Every ammolite jewelry piece I make was found and processed by me in Utah, USA. Because I enjoy all crystals and gemstones, I've expanded my work to include fire opal (Mexican, Spencer and Australian), chrysocolla, bertrandite (aka "Tiffany Stone"), azurite, magnetite (just because it's fun), crandallite, variscite, serpentine and others. Many varieties of gemstones may be found in Utah and I have enjoyed finding most of my own…

Many varieties of gemstones may be found in Utah and I have enjoyed finding most of my own material.

I have written two books relative to jewelry making. The first describes how to process ammolite and fire opal with and without expensive equipment. Principles taught in the book are well applied and work on a variety of other stones as well. The second book describes the basics of wire wrapping that I have used to teach an occasional class in Bountiful, Utah. It is designed for both those who take my class and those who are self taught

The ammolite book may be purchased with or without rough to work. Many of the principles in the books may be applied to a wide variety of stones. For example, the ammolite book processes apply well to other gemstones and interesting specimens such as chrysocolla, malachite, azurite, magnetite and many fossils.

Sterling silver is used in all silver pieces in the Jewelry Section. Argentium sterling silver is used for all silver wire wrap pieces due to its resistance to tarnishing and high quality silver metal value.

When my hobby expanded to include wire wrapping. I decided to create some piecees showing the ammolite on the host rock. In such cases no two are alike. Some pieces show hints of the animal's morphology relative to the natural shape of the ammolite shell. Both the processed stone and wire wrap make each stone a one of a kind treasure.

As an avid outdoorsman, I enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, most sports and most anything having to do with mountains and being outside. I also enjoy my work in the medical device industry and am listed as an inventor on 26 patents to date. It's not that I'm especially smart (ok... if you say I am... then.. well...), it's that simple minds have the capability to come up with simple, low cost solutions to new market needs in the medical device world. That's me. Very simple...

In my case, nature is the true artist, taking millions of years to create such amazing specimens. I know, because according to my children, I have watched it happen. I truly hope that those who purchase my products will enjoy each one as much as I enjoyed enhancing it.
