About

My name is Nicole. I’m from the Los Angeles County, and I’ve lived here all my life. From a young age I have been crafting; and one of my earliest memories of crafting was in my kindergarten class, sitting with a friend making popup books. I am a self taught crafter but I believe my talent for crafting came from my mother and grandmother who had always been sewing and crafting when they had the time. My grandmother was a seamstress that worked in Downtown Los Angeles, and when the shop she worked for closed their business they allowed each worker to take a sewing machine home with them, because the company couldn’t afford provide the workers with their last check. Twenty years down the road, her high quality industrial sewing machine found its way in my mother’s house; then it eventually found its way into my room and I began sewing purses and clutches under the name Nicole Marie Handbags.

After sewing purses, clutches, and cosmetic cases I soon realized I wanted to create much more but I couldn’t sell other items under the domain name: nicolemariehandbags.etsy.com. Therefore, I decided to create a new website under the name ‘Unify’. I chose this name because it had meaning to me, this new site would be a union of all the crafts I am capable of making, and ultimately all the crafts I ENJOY making. After a while I grew tired of only making purses, and I found myself drifting towards other crafts that I would make for parties, and as gifts. So, I decided to create UNFIY.
