About

Before starting a family I worked as an anthropologist. Today, we keep chickens and a large vegetable and herb garden on our 1/3 acre Baltimore plot. I appreciate simple living and sustainability. One of my role models is my great-grandmother, who embodied this philosophy. She could crochet and bake bread like no other, and had eclectic hobbies, like yodeling and mushroom hunting. She lived to the ripe age of 102. Our world today needs to rediscover such qualities!

I believe we participants in Etsy are involved in a lovely quiet revolution that pushes the world back in this direction, back toward our handcrafted roots.

I opened Urban Homesteaders in November 2010, and aim to build a shop that is more than just a shop. Urban Homesteaders features handmade crafts (children's toys, in particular), craft supplies and always a few interesting vintage finds. I am a fan of different mediums, and am constantly working on something new. I also sell supplies because I know that Etsy customers are crafters too!
