I am continually amazed by the subconscious that is often suppressed but somehow demands to be listened to and try to capture that essence in my painting. My work’s inspiration fuses a variety of interests: the organic beauty found in nature, yoga practices and philosophies, and the power of spirituality. I am continually amazed by the subconscious that is often suppressed but somehow demands to be listened to and try to capture that essence in my painting. My work’s inspiration fuses a variety of interests: the organic beauty found in nature, yoga practices and philosophies, and the power of spirituality. My paintings could be described as transitional abstracts--spontaneous explorations into what is currently fascinating me. Sometimes that is a concept: the poetics of breath, connection, fluidity, expansion, love, divinity. Sometimes it's an image: I love the freely drawn line, trees, flowers, circles, hearts, the written word. I like to see what happens in the moment.

Through my work, I am exploring within, articulating via color, texture and form. In this over stimulating, information-oriented modern world, I seek is a balanced simplicity: a reminder to stay in a state of inner calm despite external circumstances.

Biography
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Gina Dunn has lived in Dallas much of her life. She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans with B.A. in Communications and a Minor in Studio Arts. The beauty and culture of New Orleans has a special place in her heart.

After graduating, Gina moved back to Dallas and has taught children of all ages at ages at The Dallas Museum of Art and Art Stop since 2005. Overcome with a sense of true calling, she opened her own private art studio that same year, Utopia Pkwy. Art Studio, where she has been painting independently and offering children’s art lessons. Gina’s art has been shown in several galleries, boutiques, cafes and published worldwide. Her artwork is collected both nationally and internationally. Gina is a wife and mother of three children under the age of four, has fun making art with them all the time, and believes it is never too early to instill a love of the arts in children. She is also an active community advocate and serves on various local philanthropic committees by donating her time and talent.
