About

Maker/designer/finder of slammin' vintage-inspired and vintage jewelry, clothing, home items, and accessories. DIY enthusiast, 3DS Max user, painter, writer, Instagram photographer, lover of vintage oddities and came-with-the-frame families.

I love hunting for treasure at thrift stores and estate sales.

I search for statement/costume pieces, especially big medallions that I can use to make other pieces. I search for clothing and fabric from the 1960s-70s: big, bold prints, interesting lace and crochet pieces, and anything psychedelic or eye-catchingly unusual.

I also keep an eye out for old records with covers that feature people as racial stereotypes, e.g., "French Accordion" featuring a woman on the cover at a cafe smoking a cigarette and wearing a beret, a striped shirt, short skirt, and fishnets…

I also look for records with outrageously dated-looking covers, or fantastic fails. I also pick up some old records to listen to at home; Cha-Cha-Cha, percussion, Bee Gees, anything "Tiki" or "Lounge," and "World" music.

Instagram is my way of not taking all the wonderful things I come across home with me.

Pinterest is my current obsession. It's a wonderful image library, like a set of digital encyclopedias about exactly what you're interested in.

My style is inspired by memories and artefacts from my late grandpa's spectacular, luxurious, plushly carpeted walk-in closet. His ultimate sense of style was achieved in the mid-60s; a college sports coach and avid golfer, he dressed in plaid golf caps, velvet sport jackets, semi-psychedelic ties, checkered pants, loudly-patterned suits. In his living room were avocado lounge chairs, and throughout the house, wall-to-wall sculpted, variegated burnt orange carpet. I wish I still had his old clothes, you could say I'm haunted by their memory and it inspires my jewelry making and my sense of style.

Also by Pee-Wee's Playhouse. I like making things that look like they were transported from another era. many of my jewelry elements are recycled, and i like to mix everything up—new and old, stones, glass, plastic, and different metals.
