About

I have a deep seeded passion to create.I frequently have too many projects started and even more swirling in my mind. I am interested in many things that pull me in all directions, such as, printmaking, photography, pottery and sewing.

My current ceramic work reflects my love for the functional form. Although the simplicity of a bowl might seem mundane and overdone, I am continually fascinated by it.

Whenever a piece is complete, no matter how many times I have made that object, I still want to touch and explore it. Since touch is such a huge part of my process I strive to make pieces that people will love to use as well as touch.

All of my pieces are hand thrown on the potters wheel. Once they have dried to the right wetness they are precisely trimmed and allowed to dry completely. Next they are loaded into the electric kiln to be bisque fired to the temperature of 1945 degrees Fahrenheit. After the firing is cooled each piece is glazed with attention to detail. Finally they are loaded once again into the kiln for the glaze firing. Once the kiln reaches a temperature of 2205 degrees Fahrenheit, it shuts off and is allowed to slowly cool to room temperature.Voila! A functional piece of art is ready for everyday use.
