This shop is owned & operated by Brad & Emily - midwest natives who met abroad and immediately bonded over a shared faith and a love for all things creative. Since marrying in June of 2011, Brad's background in woodworking & pottery has complemented Emily's inclinations towards painting, color & design. Together, they formed Weckery to share the gifts of functional beauty and tangible creativity with the world!

Each piece is created on the potter’s wheel in our home studio. A basic, brown colored clay is used. Some pieces are used with a brown clay with manganese specs, while most do not contain the manganese specs. After each piece has been wedged, thrown and shaped, it is carefully removed from the wheel and left to dry. While in the leather-hard stage, there is the opportunity to add custom nameplates, handles, or other special embellishments. After the final piece is assembled and fully dried, it is bisque-fired in the kiln for nearly 10 hours.

The next step involves a careful process of glazing each piece by hand. All our glazes are made from scratch, mixed ourselves, which allows us to give each piece a slight variation every time. Once glazed, each piece is then glaze-fired in the kiln again for another 10-12 hours!

After all of the delicate work by hand and two long firings, the pottery is finally finished and ready to be used. Each piece is completely food, microwave, dishwasher and oven-safe!

You have the Weckesser guarantee that each piece is created uniquely by hand, and the signature on the bottom of each piece to prove it!
