Weird's Profile

About

Weird&Twisted
In 2008, we started out as a team of two spinners from the beautiful city of Heidelberg, Germany. Due to our daily job situation, there is only one of us left to tend to the shop now - all new yarns have been spun by me, Weird, and I'm also the one to ask if you have any questions. Please go ahead if you do! :-)

About our yarns and inspirations
Weird&Twisted yarns are unique creations. Each yarn has been carefully handspun with love and skill, each yarn has a name, and many of the yarns were inspired by something specific. The themes and inspirations vary a lot - there is music, fantasy books, nature in general (and the ocean in particular), fantasy series, feminism, and much more. Halloween art yarns are a personal favourite.

About fibres
The fibres used are high quality fibres, such as soft merino wool, fluffy alpaca, heavenly bluefaced leicester wool (my favourite), textured linen, shiny bamboo, and glossy silk. Recently, I discovered viscose and am now offering vegan art yarns, too! I don't usually have a lot of variety on stock these days, as there doesn't seem too large a demand, so If you have special requests, please don't hesitate to contact me.

About add-ins
The add-ins vary a lot - glass beads, semiprecious stones, bone skull beads, genuine pearls, seashells, and lots of different charms. The process of spinning these things into a yarn is as follows: the items are strung onto a thread which will then be spun into (or plied with) the yarn. The items are distributed unevenly throughout the yarn, the thread is there the whole lenght of yarn, so nothing can fall out.

Custom orders and respinning sold out yarn
If you have any special requests, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I love to do custom orders and might also be able to respin older creations which have already been sold.
