Wendy Grace's Profile

About

My name is Wendy Grace and I've been designing jewelry professionally since August of 1998. My background is in Sculpture and I received my Bachelors of Art degree at Parsons School of Design in NYC. As a student, I was drawn to the metal shop, where I discovered arc welding and found my calling! Over time, my sculpture transformed from steel, large scale architectural pieces and installations to hand-formed wire structures that people could interact with. Over time, the scale of my sculpture continued to get smaller, and eventually I was making small, intimate pieces out of very thin wire. I also made jewelry on the side, and received a lot of attention for it, which got me thinking…

In 1998 I temporarily set my sculpture aside to try designing jewelry as a career. I introduced my first collection at a NYC wholesale trade show the summer of 1998, and did very well. After winning The Fashion Group International NYC 'Rising Star Award', I found a showroom to represent me. During my career, my jewelry has been sold in boutiques, department stores, and catalogs in the US and abroad. I became very involved in the fashion industry and was blessed with opportunities to accessorize a number of designer collections during the Seventh on Sixth fashion shows in Bryant Park. I was also fortunate to gain a loyal following of my work, including celebrities, fashion editors and fashion icons. It's now 14 years later and although I still make small scale sculptures and two dimensional works from time to time, my jewelry has become my main art form.

Most of my inspiration comes from my materials. I use fine metals, high quality semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, and vintage beads. I also find inspiration in nature, music, and art. I hope you find something in my shop that speaks to you. Happy hunting!

I now live in Phoenix, Arizona with my husband and our twin boys... my proudest creation yet!
