WharfSisters' Profile

About

ME

Wife, arts graduate, creator, designer, DIY'er, Barista, baker, cook, and gardener - I am a New Zealander living in California with my husband and my crafts, floating out on the seas of the recession. I hark from a family of creators, of whom I constantly derive inspiration.
The name 'wharf sisters' came about with collaboration between myself and my 3 sisters, who in the future are interested in contributing their talents to this store. Currently I am going at it alone, while they finish studies and wait for opportunity to join me in my venture. The name stems from my dutch maiden name which in English translates as 'from the wharf'.

MY CREATIONS

I write this surrounded by bits of yarn, fabric, paper scraps, pencils, feathers, needles, buttons and glue: I'm the kinda gal who cant really be boxed into a particular craft genre.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! WharfSisters is a one-stop-shop where you'll discover fabulous crochet, knit, fabric, jewelery, paper and other items of high quality craftsmanship, fashion and taste.

The design process in itself is a fountain of new discoveries, letting the subconscious take over once in a while is thoroughly refreshing.
I love working with vintage materials, fabrics and findings, and do so whenever possible.
I endeavor to keep my ecological footprint as small as possible in both my everyday life and my designs, recycling and reusing found objects and packaging.

I enjoy needlecraft/embroidery, and often use these mediums to embellish my creations.
Crochet and Knitting are also skills under my belt - taught and inspired by my Oma.
