About

Apparently, I am the victim of growing old. I believe it's been going on for quite some time now, without me really knowing it.

After a rewarding career as a land use planner and landscape architect, I retired in 2004. In retirement, I have simplified my life. In 2004 we moved from the great city of Denver, Colorado with a population of 2.5 million to the town of Jacksonville, Oregon, population 2190. In retirement, I no longer wear a watch or carry a cell phone, and I choose not to communicate via social media.

I enjoy a simple life with simple pursuits. I have a loving wife and two wonderful grown sons that never cease to amaze me. I have an English Bulldog named Otis Peabody who provides his unconditional love. I have good friends. I have enough of what I need and a little of what I want.

I am an honest man and a grateful person. I enjoy staying up late and sleeping in. I like, and get to wear jeans, t shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes almost all of the time. I rarely wear a coat in any season. I am addicted to Diet Coke and love the taste of good cheesecake. I have a weakness for a good burger, and am grateful to receive the correct order at a drive through. I prefer lush foliage over the fleeting bloom. I enjoy art and good outdoor art shows. I miss the big thunder and lightening storms of Colorado. I respond to simple yet creative design. I like cars and enjoy driving twisty mountain roads and scenic ocean highways.

I am a self taught wood carver, and work out of a small studio above my garage with only enough room for the essentials. Through wood carving, I have gained a great respect for both sharp objects and the wonderful qualities of wood. It is rewarding to share my carvings with others and have them respond with a smile. My heartfelt thanks goes out to those who have allowed my art into their lives and afforded me the opportunity to continue to create new pieces.

I agree to grow old but vow to stay young at heart, and to never grow up!
