As a teacher I shaped a structured classroom with the necessary routines and schedules but I highly promoted creativity and self-expression from my students. Taking the ho hum trail was always frowned upon. I was crazy about it when my students succeeded in fulfilling the curriculum requirements in ridiculously innovative ways. I loved the balance of structure and silliness! That’s how I view my craft. I apply the structure of well made pieces with the silliness of its theme.
I like to use anything that I've rescued from being dumped into a landfill, goodies that have been hiding in grandma and grandpa's cupboards, and items that most people would call useless. To me these are treasures waiting to be given a new purpose. I find any kind of text irresistible and have a thing about using it into something wearable.
