I started sewing doll clothes when I was 8, and at age 14 I began sewing beads and pearls on the wedding dresses that my grandmother designed and made. I have made many things for my home (and to fill up all my relatives' and friends' homes), such as embroidery and needlepoint. I made woven-ribbon pillows for them all in 2011, and last year I gave them all vanity bags.

I got the idea for them because I needed one and liked the one I designed and made so I decided to make them for Christmas gifts. People began buying them for their mother, their sister-in-law, etc. so I decided to made a whole "set" of them (25 different bags) and am in the process of putting them all on etsy. I have a line of hand-made lingerie bags, and am starting a line of clutch bags.

I teach 8th grade English and creative writing, but as soon as I get home each day I get right to my latest sewing project. On an ongoing basis I also knit leper bandages which I send to our church who sends them to leper colonies. I got the idea for my shop's name because my name, Deborah, means a honey bee.
