Cold-process soaps have returned with a new look - re-sized, and now most, but not all, will contain fresh goat's milk and gluten-free oatmeal, and always with NO coconut oil due to demand.

~Being part mad-scientist, part Sherlock Holmes, part perfectionist, I love to create, but then I'm rarely completely satisfied with what I've done. I always take it several steps beyond whatever seems good enough, to strive for "excellent"!

I love to challenge myself to bring anything that I do to the point of being the most interesting, fun, practical, useful, inspired thing that it can be - with the intention of bringing a bit more joy into someone's life.

I could easily have been a purist and refused to produce anything except completely all-natural products. However. . . . I believe in choices and reasonable indulgences. Yodely…

Yodely Goat decorative soaps are mostly natural - it's my intention that these be an indulgence - good for the soul, good for some fun, good for a laugh, and a unique and interesting gift. They all contain only the highest quality ingredients.

There are basically 3 types of soaps that I make:

1. DECORATIVE SOAPS: All of the decorative soaps are all individually crafted. They are commonly known as "glycerin" soaps (actually a misnomer) - that is they begin with a ready-made base that is conducive to making such detailed creations. I purchase the purest base that I have found to be available - NOT the cheapest! I will not use any base that contains any parabens, sulfates or propylene glycol! You would know the difference, believe me, if you tried them on your own skin. While some soaps have some intense colors, it actually takes very little colorant to achieve that effect. If you should notice that some of the more intense colors come off on your washcloth, don't be concerned - it won't be stained - and neither will you. These soaps are NOT all-natural. Colorants are used, and fragrance oils are used, sometimes in combination with essential oils.

NOTE:
-- If oatmeal is used, it is only certified gluten-free oatmeal.
-- I no longer use coconut oil in any of my handcrafted bar soaps as it is an irritant to some. (The decorative "glycerin" soaps do contain coconut oil.)

2. ALL-NATURAL BAR SOAPS: If I state that a bar soap is all-natural - it is entirely all-natural, organic as much inasmuch as is possible, and all ingredients are of the highest quality available to me. Natural colorants are used - parsley, charcoal, dragon's blood fruit resin, crushed black walnut hulls to name just a few. Most of these soaps are goat's milk soaps.

3. FRAGRANT AND COLORFUL BAR SOAPS: These bars take advantage of the array of fragrances and colorants available to the modern day soap maker. ONLY the highest grade fragrance oils and colorants, which are purchased only from a few select trustworthy sources are used.

When using botanicals, they are chemical-free, and only certified gluten-free oatmeal is used in any oatmeal products.

All Yodely Goat old-fashioned handcrafted bar soaps are cured for at least 4 weeks, goat's milk soaps for at least 6-8 weeks. They all age gracefully and beautifully, only becoming better with time. As much as is available to me, I use organic oils, and sustainably sourced (renewable resource) oils. Cheap oils such as shortening are never used. I will never use animal tallow or lard in any products. Some soaps are vegan, some are made with goat's or other milks or lanolin (the oils from the wool of the sheep), or may contain beeswax.

Yodely Goat soaps contain no parabens, SLS (sodium laureth sulfate or any version thereof), no animal products other than the goat's milk or lanolin in some bars (no animal tallow) or animal testing.

Soapmakers today are so fortunate! We have an abundance of amazing oils, all with different skin-loving properties, from all around the world available to us. Our great-grandmothers would be absolutely blown away by how far we've come from potash and lard! . . . . Cocoa butter, shea butter, castor oil, olive oil, avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, jojoba, cherry kernel oil, carrot seed oil, tamanu oil - to name just a few. There are so many choices now! Each oil has it's own unque properties and characteristics.

We're all barraged by so incredibly many products, making all kinds of claims. It's mind-boggling and can be overwheliming. Unfortunately, so often we're disappointed to say the least. It seems that as more and more options are made available, just as increasingly, we don't really have what we want - or what we need. We don't need to be dousing ourselves and our children with chemicals on a daily basis; we don't need to employ cruelty to animals to determine what's safe and what isn't; we don't need all kinds of crazy sales pitches and flashy over-packaging, worth more than the cost of the product inside. I believe that products that are as simple and chemical-free as possible are a huge step in the right direction.
