Hello and welcome! I am 34, a native Mainer, and I have been creating since I was a little girl: a nativity scene from paper and cardboard for my dad; a small stuffed blob named Spongey Sponge that I made for my new baby brother, a recipe card holder made from a scrap of wood and some shells. I inherited my creative ability from my mom, a real artist, and I learned that even though I never had money for gifts, or costumes, or drama props, I could rely on my creativity to come up with just what I needed. I still love to create things, and give homemade gifts.
I opened this shop with the intention of selling jewelry, after discovering etsy in a magazine and becoming instantly addicted. I opened this shop with the intention of selling jewelry, after discovering etsy in a magazine and becoming instantly addicted. I soon realized, however, that jewelry is a hard market to break into here, and besides, my sister is better at it than I am. I was also discovering the beginnings of a love affair with cloth. Now I look at cloth everywhere - even the clothes in my kids' closets, and I imagine what new and cute things I can make from it - especially sweet little Scrappy Monsters, Scrappy Friends, and Giant Scrappy Monsters! I'm also always experimenting with something new: hats, scarves, and upcycled tins right now! My only problem is finding time, between teaching high school English, directing Drama, and taking care of my five kids, to create all the cuties that clutter my imagination.
