I love colors and textures and find fabrics, yarns, and threads exciting to work with and of course let’s not forget felt. I’m also very fond of embellishments and love using ribbons, buttons and various trims whenever possible, but lace is my favorite.

I began sewing 46 years ago when my grandmother first taught me how to use a sewing machine. From that time on I made much of my own clothing. Now though, I only sew clothes for my doll collection.

In my early teens I was taught knitting by my aunt and crocheting by mother. A pastime I still enjoy very much. My aunt also did extremely beautiful needlework, which I greatly admired; so when I was 12 she also taught me embroidery, crewel and needlepoint.

I always liked drawing and painting, so in the 1970’s I merged it with my fondness for needlepoint and started designing and painting custom needlepoint canvases.

For many years I enjoyed making rag dolls and country style household items in cloth and painted wood to give to my church for their craft fair. I also painted ceramics too.

My latest crafting addiction started shortly after my granddaughter got a kitchen set; now I am hopelessly addicted to making felt play food.

Children say such cute things. One day when I first began making felt food my two and a half year old granddaughter came into my sewing room looking for me and immediately spied all the felt food I had completed sitting on a table. Excitedly she turned to me and said, “Grandma, I didn’t know you were getting a kitchen set”. I guess she thought if grandma could have lots of dolls and doll clothes in her sewing room then why not a play kitchen for the play food.

Needless to say the felt food was a tremendous hit with my granddaughter.

Now a few word from the daughter half of the crafting team.

My name is Michelle I am married to a wonderful man, who is my best friend. I am blessed with two sweet little girls. I am an Elementary School teacher turned stay at home mom. I taught 1st and 4th grade and for over 10 years I have taught Sunday school. I enjoy art and music and play the flute and piano.

I have an associate degree in art and have had my artwork displayed in several art shows and at the town library. I also helped paint a large mural on a wall inside of our local post office.

I enjoy all forms of crafting. Counted cross-stitch and embroidery are fun but crocheting is my favorite pastime; I find it extremely relaxing.

We are excited about being here on Etsy and are working hard each day on adding more of our items to our store, so in the next few weeks be on the lookout for our other craft designs and our yummy felt play food. I also have an account CozyStitchesBoutique.
