Yvette Gaudreau's Profile

About

I became an Artist because of pure boredom raising children and being a stay at home mom in a remote part of Cape Cod, where jobs are few and paying minim wages. Their was more to life then housework, children and bookkeeping and loosing my inner self in the wake of those I love.

My husband Richard and Son, Adam have been artist for many many years. They artistic abilities lie in hand engraving with small like chisels into metal. So It is at all unusual that I would chose to become one myself. You can find their shops on Etsy at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HandEngraving?ref=hdr_shop_menu

My husband brought me a gift of acrylic paints and brushes. I then started to paint on watercolor paper. It took many years for me to develop my own style and techniques and while I was concentration on finding me I realized that I had an eye for detail.

In 2005, I sold over 200 aceo cards on an auction site to loyal clients from all over the world. I found that those that received my artwork, was impressed with my abilities to give my subjects not only a spirit of their own but also how alive my painting were. That was 15 years ago. I've had a love affair with painting and my goals have been to paint very detail paintings in small canvas sizes called miniatures.

I finally found Etsy and opened my shop in March 2008. I wanted a shop so that I could stabilize my art work in one place where clients could find me more easily. I’ve learned to paint in oils, gouache, watercolor and my favorite is acrylics on most any canvas that I can get my hands on.

Sharing my work on Etsy has given me a way to express myself where I’ve learned that being creative is a traveled journey that has no end. I’m still exploring my techniques and becoming better and better with this journey that I am on. I feel that as a animal and bird artist I am destine to communicate the sprite of my subjects to the best of my abilities. These abilities are forever pushing my boundaries within my creative self.

I also find that there is something magical that happens when you hold a miniature in you hands with all the beauty and details of a larger painting.
