Anita Berglund's Profile

About

Hi. I'm Anita. Nice to meet you!
Life is a gift from God, Who showers me with abundant blessings daily. For me, just getting up and going to bed is a blessing because I depend on the arms and legs of others to assist me. Living with a genetic neuromuscular disorder, has opened up opportunities many do not have. One big influence in my artistic abilities is the need to adapt depending upon the progression of muscle weakness. That challenges me more as I have now reached fifty-one, yay!
I love being an artist, it isn't "normal," if I am not making something. The desire to be an artist, was all I ever knew. Painting and drawing has always been first and foremost as my number one art making methods. But don't forget, all other experiences dabbling in assorted creative activities - can all have an influence on what and how you create! In recent years I have been focusing on three…

In recent years I have been focusing on three dimensions work more, jewellery making and using polymer clay as well as working on needle felting. Anything with colour makes me smile!

For sure, there have been and still are a bazillion craft type projects either received as craft kits, taught by my parent's or learned in art classes in school, and even summer recreation programs. Some of these may sound familiar: wood burning, macrame, "Dip It flowers," Spirograph, Play Doh, Friendly Plastic Jewellery, Plaster of Paris casting, Model construction, Sgraffito, Earthen Clay-Non Pottery Wheel stuff, Spool Knitting, Knitting, Crochet, Doodle Art, Paint By Numbers, String Art, Jewellery Making, Faux Leather Techniques with masking tape, Paper Mache, Rug Hooking, Sewing, Quilting, Felting, Resin Casting, Weaving, Leather Work, Origami, Paper Art, Gimping, Beading, Wire Wrapping, Wire Weaving, Carving (whittling) , thanks to craft kits and influence from my parent's hobbies,

Primarily A self taught professional artist, has been all I have ever known. From commissions, to juried art exhibits and working in mostly two dimensions using paint, markers, coloured pencils, and these days, polymer clay, and illustrating/painting using digital media. Without my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I am not in my right head space. He blesses me with creativity to help me focus and have great enjoyment. As well, my dear husband is a great encourager, a painter himself!

Colour is my number one element to use in all of my creations. Use of colour came from exposure to Wassily Kandinsky and Georgia O'Keefe Influence. Take a look at their gorgeous paintings!
