Kippian Inglis' Profile

About

I started sewing at the age of 5 and haven't quit. I love color, every color and I love embroidery. I am influenced by the creativity in everything - nature, people, art, machinery. Everyone has a gift to use - some have the gift of creativity in artistic formats. I strive to find my gift on a daily basis and share it with those who would appreciate. For the last 15+ years, I have been working primarily in wool. Wool Penny Rugs and applique, and now, wool roving for felting - both dry and wet felting. I make one of a kind items, mostly from designs OUTTA MY MIND.... and I like to make useful items, like pin cushions, needle books, coasters and pillows.

In April of 2010, I lost my job as a kitchen and bath designer - a job I adored, and have been trying to re-vamp my little sewing business. Without the funds to have a continued presence in the big quilt shows where I used to vend, I have had…

Without the funds to have a continued presence in the big quilt shows where I used to vend, I have had to go about making an income in a different way. This is a trial run on Etsy to see if having an on-line presence will make a difference. If you go to the big quilt shows, especially on the East Coast; you would have seen my shop as All Sewn Up. As of 2011, I only vend at Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA and the Quilt Expo in Madison, Wisconsin; selling my hand-dyed wool, patterns and wool kits.

I grew up primarily in a small rural area outside of Washington, DC in a Quaker community steeped in local history. I love history - I love the connections with of where humanity is today compared with where "we" were 100, 200, 1,000 years ago. I embraced the Quaker ideals of simplicity, love and tolerance, and the light of the Spirit existing in every human. It is my hope that those ideals are stitched into the pieces I make - they are each a part of my soul, my Inner Light to share.

Mostly, I love to create COLOR - I dye wool fabric to sell for penny rug (wool applique) work and wool roving and silk for wet and dry felting. Right now, it is the only job I have and I love my job!
