Amy J.'s Profile
Currently in Las Vegas by way of Kentucky and Michigan, I've been making handmade gifts since I was a little girl. It started out as potholders, then woven bead jewelry, drawing and painting, polymer clay art, and now it's basket weaving.
My formal education background is in anthropology (emphasis in cultural resource management) with a master’s in public administration. In 2007, as an undergrad, I was developing a history kit for the Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University. We needed a Native American basket kids could man-handle. So I had a weaving session with the amazing Beth Hestor. I learned how to make a Cherokee twilled basket. I was hooked! I have been weaving baskets and creating basketry ornaments ever since.
