Here are some tips when working with vintage patterns and yarn:
When using vintage wool it is advisable to use old needles and patterns as modern equivalents are slightly different.Use imperial (non-metric) needles and crochet hooks (pre 1970’s).
Most notably difference's occur in the plys of wool.
Vintage 3 ply wool is nearer to modern 4 ply and old 2 ply is similar to modern 3 ply - it sounds confusing but really it isn't!
Always work a sample tension square to ensure you will get correct sizings.
