Debbie Geddes' Profile

About

Hi, and welcome to all cut up by dg, the dg being myself, Debbie Geddes.

Though my background has always been in graphic art, purely by chance, I discovered the art of papercutting, totally fell in love with it and haven't looked back since! As a result of this, I've spent the last three years designing and creating papercuts. I began with creating them for mainly my friends and family. Then I started taking on commisions and have also been exhibiting my papercuts in my local art gallery for the last two years. Since opening my shop, here on Etsy, my papercuts have travelled the world...which I still think is amazing!

I think it's the minimalism of papercutting that drew me to it initially, because all that's involved is an idea, a single piece of paper and a very sharp scapel. I love the detail that can be achieved. Watching it emerge and come to life, almost three dimensional, absolutely fascinates me. I like to add quotes into my papercuts as I enjoy words and their meanings. I enjoy interpreting them visually.

All my papercuts are originals, designed, hand drawn and then painstakingly hand cut from a single sheet of paper, with a scapel. This is what makes them so beautifully unique, as no two papercuts are ever alike.

I ship all my papercuts unmounted. This gives you the freedom to display them on whichever colour mount or type of frame you wish.

I hope you enjoy my papercuts as much as I've enjoyed creating them.

Thanks for taking the time to look and I hope to see you back again! :)
