Allison Korn's Profile

About

Hi! I’m Allison Korn, the artist behind Roots in Silver. I make fine silver jewelry out of metal clay with reclaimed/recycled silver in my studio in Brattleboro, Vermont. My hope is that the jewelry I make connects with your soul and helps you on your own journey.

I want my jewelry to help you find your roots, connect with the energy that flows around and through us, and give you wings. I believe my jewelry crosses paths with the people it is meant for, and supports them in the very specific and individual energetic ways they need at this point in their lives.

Each piece of jewelry that I make is an organic process and a part of me, inspired by life as I have experienced it. I handcraft each piece, either working free hand, carving my own molds, or imprinting the silver clay with organic materials that I find in nature, such as…

About

I handcraft each piece, either working free hand, carving my own molds, or imprinting the silver clay with organic materials that I find in nature, such as leaves, shells, or seeds.

Originally from Washington, D.C., I spent the last decade living in Ecuador, where my partner, Marco, is from, and where my two sons, Lucas and Asha, were born. Ready for a change, we moved to Brattleboro, Vermont in the summer of 2014.

The pieces of jewelry that I create come from my heart and honor different moments and forms of life, such as birthing, healing, love, stillness, and connection. Each piece holds a story inside, like roots that go deep and keep us strong; and each piece grows into a new story as it becomes a part of you. You can read some of the stories that inspire my pieces here.

I find inspiration in the everyday world that surrounds me - in the slow process of bark cracking as a tree grows too big for its skin; in the bumps of the unfinished cement wall of my bathroom; in the curves, wrinkles, rolls, and openings of our bodies; in people's resilience as they move through the pain of trauma and the power of healing; in the beautiful and life-changing process of pregnancy and birth; in the emotional journey that is parenthood; and in a leaf's perfect map of lines and ridges.

After walking a long and winding path, I have found that this art allows me to bring my inner creativity to life and help others on their own journeys. My intention is to give back to life by creating wearable pieces of art that carry the light, the struggles, and the joys of life – wearable stories that help take you where you need to go.

And with each piece of jewelry comes a dose of gratitude – gratitude for each moment that life gives us and for the lessons learned and to come, all of which make us who we are.
