About

“I like maps.” That was my response to the ‘what are you studying?’ question at my grad school orientation. Three words to sum up my academic interests while everyone else spouted off paragraph-sized sentences including words most people don’t know exist. This was my first inclination that maybe the ivory tower world wasn't for me. Now, having finished grad school and dabbled in academia as a Visiting Assistant Professor (lucky enough to teach some amazing students!), I’m indulging my more artistic side that’s simply been begging to come out, buried beneath journal articles and papers to grade. Thus was born All Mapped Out in March of 2012. By day I work for a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the discipline of geography and geography education, by night (and weekends) I craft cartography-inspired products.

What’s with the name, 'All Mapped Out'?

First the most obvious: I love all things ‘map’. Second, as much as I love maps, after graduate school I was a bit sick of reading cartographic literature. In other words, I was ‘all mapped out’. Third? I’m a bit of a planner. Ok, more than a bit. I tend to like having things ‘all mapped out’. But I’m working on that, or at least trying to. I doubt I will ever be a completely laid-back, go-with-the-flow kind of person. That’s why I married a guy who is. I observe and attempt to mimic.

My roots, my shop.

Having spent many early mornings seeking out good garage sales with my mom and attending all day farm auctions with my dad, I was raised to seek out unexpected treasures and to think creatively about home decor and function. My shop will feature handmade and vintage items that reflect these creative roots, mixed in with my cartographic and geographic education. I want to help you add a sense of place to your space!

A few things about me:

Tea over coffee.

Antique mall over shopping mall.

Bike lanes over expressways.

Chacos over heels.

I camp, not glamp.

Boston Terriers rule.

I accumulate old chairs.

I love college football season.

Nerd to the core.
