Annette Paajanen's Profile

About

My first exposure to fused glass was in 2002. It was love at first cut and my intended hobby very quickly became a passion. I enjoy playing with the iridescence and transparency of the glass, the rich and mutable colors unfailing in their appeal. In addition, I often incorporate copper -- as foil, mesh or wire -- and occasionally brass into the pieces, because of the unpredictable ways the metals interact with the glass, which just adds to the fun. Inspiration for designs comes to me at unexpected times, from unexpected sources; the world to me is constantly full of visual surprises. I have adopted ideas for designs from all of my homes -- Oregon, New Mexico and now back in my native Minnesota -- but, always, I’m all about the colors!
