Amanda Lunceford's Profile

About

My family is very active and I still have three children at home, so I do most of my sewing projects while they are in school. I spend lots of time choosing interesting fabrics and patterns, and design my own pieces as well. I get a lot of my ideas and inspiration from different interesting details I notice on clothing from many different sources, but mostly from vintage pictures, patterns, and my own creativity. The 50's, 60's and 70's produced many children's fashion patterns that were very high quality in design and fit. And they look especially fabulous in modern, up to date fabrics. Most of my designs come from original vintage patterns and I use traditional as well as couture sewing methods to construct my garments.

I believe that quality fabrics and special details are the key to a great outfit that is not only stylish, but is able to to be worn and enjoyed by others later when it is outgrown. All of my clothing is sewn with Phaff sewing maching and a serger when necessary. I sew the first layer of underlining to all my wool coats by hand and interface all required areas such as facings, sleeve hems, bottom hems, and collars. I also attend online couture sewing classes to keep current on the latest sewing techniques.
My husband and I have three lovely daughters and a handsome son. I spend most of my spare time visiting with my six sisters and drinking coffee, talking about clothes and home decorating projects, and shopping. I also like to spend time in my yard and outside with the kids during the summer months. I thank God for all his blessings in my life and his endless, unconditional love.
