About

Amani at Home is supplier and curator of ethnic home goods. Known for a love of Africa -- the people, the culture, and the land inspired Amani to create this all-inclusive home brand.

While pursuing a degree in International Relations, Amani completed the African American studies program at NVCC where she graduated magnu cum laude. Soon after, she took her first pilgrimage to Africa. It was there that she was introduced extensively to African textiles.

Employed as a HR professional for the US government, Amani decided to follow her long time passion for interior design. Promoting an ethnic design aesthetic was an organic decision and her travels to Africa and throughout the Caribbean continues to influence her designs. Her aim is to create interior spaces and home furnishings that balance time honored tradition with a modern sensibility. Her work brings to the forefront the inherent beauty of things once thought of as third world or primitive, into something luxurious and sophisticated. Keeping this in mind, Amani is able to hone in on her client’s personal style while bringing to the table a unique set of experiences and elements to the design process.

Amani, a Washingtonian, is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Her work has been featured in numerous online publications such as The Huffington Post, K is for Kinky, Fly, Gray Livin’, AfroElle Magazine, and The DC Ladies just to name a few. She has completed interior design course work and continues to be educated on the vast and complex world of African culture, textiles, and art. Amani has cast a fresh and innovative spirit into the interior design and home furnishings industry.
