Curious about Amberie?

On September 8th, 2009 I embarked on what I believed would be my dream come true. I was moving to France. I was going as an au pair, to take care of two young children. For a year I was going to live with a French family, attend language school, and be immersed in the Provincial culture of Southern France.

It had taken me all four years off college to save up the money that I would need. What had started as a saving plan for a language learning software soon morphed into saving for my ultimate dream: to spend a year in France.

Less than a month later, I was sent packing. No words could express my disappointment or my heartache. All the money I had spent years saving, was now gone. Coming home felt like defeat. Suddenly, I was without France - a country I had dreamed about living in for so long, and I was without a job.

Determined to keep my spirits above water, I went back to the drawing board. I had graduated with degrees in Fine Art and Art History, and I knew that the drawing board is where inspiration born.

From the drawing board came images and ideas of things that made me happy: international travels, and the courage to follow one's dreams. I drew the things that inspired me: beautiful things that sparkled, flourishing flowers and bright colors that warmed the heart. Feathers reminded me of spreading one's wings and soaring to new heights; metal and wire representing strength to tackle hardships. What came about was Amberie.

Amberie was, and still is my inspiration. Now just under two years later, Amberie is in two different stores.

Amberie is a collection of what both expresses and inspires me: I draw from my international travels to France, Mexico, England, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. I am drawn towards things that have a classic, timeless feminine touch, with an edge that expresses strength.
Thank you so much for visiting my shop. I hope that you too are inspired!
