Andrada Anghel's Profile

About

“Andrada's painting consists of delicate landscapes, soft, even velvety, often evanescent and seductive... mysterious. Sometimes you may see a glimpse of moving waters, transfigured unicorns, roaring sea, abstract profile of poplars, relics, tinted black colored tracks (which contrast with blue which intertwine), golden arabesque, mysterious trees in the dark of the night, landscapes constructed with lights and shadows, amber textures.
All the pictorial elements exert a suggestive charm, especially in their infinite variations of grays and blues, which give a meaning to the dreamlike and evocative works. The colors here have a deep sound between transparency and diffuse light; they are at the dissolution of the matter, which turns into a fairy tale.
It is a musical and lyrical image: these two realities actually proceed in parallel. It seems as the painting comes from darkness toward the light…

It is a musical and lyrical image: these two realities actually proceed in parallel. It seems as the painting comes from darkness toward the light.
For Andrada this is a tool for interpreting the world: we find a strong sense of balance and harmony within a matter charge of silences, expectations, sometimes lingering doubts. Although her technic is often abstract, there is always a close relationship with the outer and inner reality of the artist. In a sweet and sumptuous apocalypse of shapes and colors, the painting transports the viewer into a sphere located between dreams and awakenings, between reality and imaginary, between transcendent and immanent in a sort of permanent charm.
The artist originally from Romania, lives and works in Canada where she received numerous exhibitions. Her works can be found in many private collections in Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil and as well as Europe. “ (Pino Nicoletti, art curator and art critic, Matera, Italy)

I would like to share with you some of my compliments from some fellow artists and customers:

“Andrada’s artworks seem to be captured in time at the moment of their most mysterious vibrancy. Her canvases emanate optimism and energy. Every inch of the painting is filled with color and texture creating images that reveal sceneries of a familiar but mysterious stage.”

“I feel that I want to get up close to this work and touch it. Superb.”

“Reminds me a little of some sort of ancient writing or Hieroglyphics. I love the color repetitions and arrangements!”

“You may be a student; you're certainly an artist. Lovely, evocative paintings. It will be fun to see what you're doing in a few years.”

“I hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to let you know I received the package today with your fabulous artwork. They arrived in prime condition and the pictures on website don’t do them any justice. Truly exquisite!!”

“Dear Andrada:
The painting arrived today. I just opened the carton and am very pleased to look at your work. In addition to myself there will be about 720 to 1,200 international students who also will have the opportunity to view your work on a daily basis. A title and artist plate will be placed below this painting identifying it by name, description and of course artist and where you are from, for the viewer’s reference as well.
Thank you.” (Painting bought by English Bay College from Vancouver)
