I've been designing and sewing with vinyl fabrics since 1999. I saw a craft segment on double-sided oilcloth placemats on Martha Stewart Living. The oilcloth spoke to me. I found oilcloth online and placed an order (my very first internet order for anything), and I hoped that the baby would be blissfully ignorant of the many profanities I used while figuring things out with my sewing machine. In record time, I whipped up some swanky placemats. I was hooked. After making a few other oilcloth projects using other people's patterns, I decided to work with my own ideas and designs. I'm still doing just that and having a blast.

Prior to this vinyl gig, I studied and taught Classics (Greek and Latin). While I don't think this academic background has been terribly relevant to my vinyl pursuits, it might explain my fashionerd interest in pocket protectors and eyeglasses cases and book covers. It's also never a bad thing to know Greek and Latin.
