I have a B.A. in studio art and art history, but didn’t start making jewelry until after college. When I moved to Atlanta in 1996, I began to study metalsmithing at a local art center, and then privately with a local jeweler.
While studying art in school, I was always interested in shapes, geometry, abstractions of form, and the natural world. These interests continued when I began making jewelry, which tends to be simple in form, combining negative space (such as pierced designs), interesting shapes, and basic structures from nature.
I love simplicity and elegance, forms stripped to their bare essentials, such as the beauty of the outline of a leaf or a flower, the clean lines of a circle or square.
