Renate Sommer's Profile

About

I studied jewellery making under the late Christopher Headley Neave at O’Halloran Hill CFE in the late 70s. Have been working off and on since then designing and making jewellery and work mainly with Sterling Silver which I love for its malleability and its warm/cool lustre.

The ideas for my work are many and varied, animals and nature are constant inspirations, but if I have a problem with ideas, it is where to start first. Hence the varied techniques and designs. I hope one day to find a path for my craft that is truly the essence of me and less influenced by trends and the need to earn a living.
