Teresa Arana's Profile

About

Growing up, I always had a special attraction and attachment to jewelry; I constantly went through my grandmother’s jewelry box and I profoundly treasured jewelry given to me. When the came of choosing a career, I chose architecture, at the time jewelry design didn’t seem like a possible career. So I worked in the architecture field in Puerto Rico, New York and Madrid. During this time, I was missing the hands on crafting experience and the direct contact with the creation. In 2008, after making a ring for a design competition, I decided that I wanted to make rings for a living. In 2009, moved back home and enrolled in metalsmith classes. Since 2010, Ive been creating rings inspired mostly by the Caribbean and my architecture background.
