About

It all began in 2007 with a flattened bottlecap-turned keyring. My passion for giving trash materials a second life as art has grown ever since. As a quilter for 20+ years, I enjoy adding fiber and stitch to my work. I am also passionate about hand dyeing and just love working with the brilliant colors.

I am a wife and mom to two teens, with a third, long-term foreign student who also lives with us. I am passionate about animal welfare and happily share my home with a shelter dog, two formerly-stray cats, and seven rescued rats!

I support the no-kill shelter movement and donate 10% of my sales to local animal groups that share this passion. Some of the organizations I support are:

The SPCA of Wake County (http://www.spcawake.org) ~ A local, private no-kill shelter doing amazing work in our community (I also volunteer here).

Coalition to Unchain Dogs (http://www.unchaindogs.net/) ~ watch some of their Happy Tails videos and you will quickly see why I support them.

Love Mutts Rescue (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NC716.html) ~ a small rescue run by a woman who works tirelessly to rescue dogs and cats from several rural high-kill shelters. She does an amazing job!

At times I will pledge donations to other organizations as needs arise. Please see my shop announcement for details regarding the current beneficiary.

Our home is smoke-free. I take pride in what I do and hope you will join me on the journey.
