Brennah Soukup's Profile

About

Hello everyone! My name is Brennah Soukup, a.k.a. Mito Chondria, and I “do art”. I say I “do art” because that phrase is included in one of my favorite questions that as an artist, I am asked most often- “Do you do art?”. And I suppose, the easiest answer is ‘yes’, I “do” art- every day. I live in a studio apartment with my Chihuahua Chiclet (Lord Chisus), a lionhead rabbit Zeeschildpat (turtle), and my two birds- Modrozeleny Andulka (teal parakeet) and Nebe Frantishek (Frances Sky).
Within the realm of the art that I create, I find a few categories that I can kind of put the majority of my work in: 1. Beauty of nature. Now- I realize that of all artistic venues, “nature” and the beauty that exists there are pretty commonalities among artists. However, I try to put it into a different light.

Sometimes that means destroying that beauty to allow people to realize the great things they are presented with every day. 2. Reactions to vibrancy. I tend, even in my so-called “darker” pieces to incorporate vibrant, stunning colors in order to at least initially invoke a positive vibe. And of course the value of a smile is measureless 3. Simplicity of happiness. In this sense, I find it extraordinarily important to find happiness in the smallest of things in life (this leads to a kind of secret obsession of mine…) and therefore, I often create adorable and bright characters and pieces for nearly nothing more than a smile. And lastly- the name Mito Chondria is derived from the powerhouse of the cell, the mitochondria (here is my proudly nerdy obsession) I am enraptured by microorganisms, especially planktons like diatoms.
So, I hope that you enjoy my art and all of my series of work greatly- if you have any questions feel absolutely free to contact me! Also, I love the challenge of commission work, so feel free to inquire if you’d like me to do something special for you!
