Sally MacKenzie's Profile

About

Art of Sally MacKenzie is a handmade/digital design business. I sell both handmade crafts and digital files for wedding stationary. The dual nature of the business reflect my love of both the handmade and graphic design. In the future the products may be split into separate shops, but for now they live side by side.

I am a San Diego-native whose love of art comes from my mother. Growing up she introduced me and my sister to many different arts and crafts techniques. This love of creating continued throughout my life, which my parents always encouraged. (In fact, I am now encouraging my mom to open her own Etsy shop! Stay tuned for an opening announcement.)

In 2007 I received a BFA in Illustration from CSU Fullerton (Go Titans!). Though I still love drawing, painting, etc etc, my new artistic passion is Web Design, which I am studying through Palomar College…

Though I still love drawing, painting, etc etc, my new artistic passion is Web Design, which I am studying through Palomar College.

Etsy entered my world in 2009, and after much browsing I began to think, "Could I do this?" After several more weeks of browsing, I decided, "I can do this!" Wanting to create items that were both unique and sustainable, I decided to source materials from "scraps," such as postage stamps, odd bits of scrapbook paper, and magazine pages. Materials come from personal project leftovers, and kind Freecycle and family members looking to rid their homes of old magazines.

Wedding stationary files were a natural extension of this "unique and sustainable" philosophy. Digital save the date files can be emailed, saving many trees. If you prefer to send a printed copy, postcards save both paper (no envelopes or pieces of tissue paper) and postage. Art of Sally MacKenzie's designs are easily customized to your unique needs, colors, and sense of fun. Who says weddings must be stuffy and formal?

I am currently living in Sydney, Australia, having relocated for my wonderful fiance. Though my physical shop still resides in California, this may change in the near future.

Each bowl and card was handmade in San Diego, California. Digital files are created wherever my laptop is currently located.
