My shop name is a tribute to my creative genes--my grandmother's maiden name is Frost. Her father was a wood worker, her mother a seamstress and knitter, and she is a watercolorist, a silversmith, and a leather worker. It doesn't skip a generation with my mother, who is a painter, jewelry designer, and ceramic artist, and although she barely touches the sewing machine now, she once made almost all of my clothes.
So I come by crafting through genes and natural curiosity. My mother taught me to crochet when I was 12 or so, but it just didn't click then. I picked it up again a few years ago, and I've now got multiple projects going on at any given time. My mother also taught me to sew, and the basics of wire work.
