Marla Gill's Profile

About

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, my work reflects the color and warmth of the Caribbean. I moved to Canada in 1968 where I raised my two children and painted for several years in acrylics. I have had several exhibitions of my paintings, and became known as the painter pilot. My occupation as a flight instructor did not leave me the time I needed to paint my canvases, but after taking a few community courses in pottery, I absolutely fell in love with this new medium. Now that I am retired I have opened my own studio at home and am devoting my time to painting on my "new canvases". I hand throw my pieces and decorate them with colored slips that reflect my style as a painter.
