About

I love the scent of violets, a comfy bed, a warm day and driving through a eucalypt forest just after the rain. I'm drawn to things with whispers of the past, still alive in the present.

When I was a little girl I spent a lot of time with my father attending antique auctions and markets, digging in old settlements for porcelain fragments and old bottles. As a teenager I used to spend a lot of time lurking in museums and antiquarian bookshops, I studied archaeology as a hobby, I collected old things and dreamed of traveling back in time. I always wanted to work in a museum, instead I opted to live in one....sort of.

I open the boxes other people pass by, I walk into shops other people don't even notice. It's about a love of old things, the sentimentality of the past, and a desire to bring things loved long ago into the present…

History is so inspiring in this world of re-runs and repeats and doing things already done before. I like a more artisan approach, not mass market - original, made with care and love and for a purpose other than to make a buck.

My objective with the designs I create is to give old treasures a new life, a new appreciation, a new purpose. I love to combine things not intended to be used together - Victorian lockets and Art Deco chains, crisp gemstones and antique pearls, Georgian pendants with mourning beads.

It's the rebel in me, Aquarian that I am, that compels me to go against the grain to create something that really should not be. Something that, when you see it and wear it, you KNOW it should be just like it is.

I also run 'La Comtesse de Talaru' for beautiful one-off and unique supplies. You can find out more about me there, http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7181384

And as if that's not enough, I sell ephemera, antique fabrics and other goodies at Miscellany de Talaru: http://miscellanydetalaru.etsy.com
