Jessica Landes' Profile

About

With a tendency towards the crafty side of life, I, Aunt J, began handstitching miniature braided rag rugs with the goal of making a reproduction of the Susan Landes family heirloom rug shining bright from the middle of my bedroom floor. After this first project, I was hooked!

Each of my “petits tapis” (puh-tee tah-pee), or “little rugs” in French, is made with fine 100% cotton crochet thread, unless otherwise noted, to create the lifelike feel and performance of a braided rag rug in miniature. All rugs are pressed and starched so that no backing is needed, making them hug the floor that much closer. I use both chain braid and hand stitching techniques to achieve the most authentic look possible at 60+ braid locks per square inch.
